Welcome back... the vigo county school corporation wabash valley classic was down to its final four tuesday.... sullivan was our only local team left in the semfinals.....the arrows were trying to advance to the classic championship game for the first time since 2011... sullivan took on bloomington south..... randy kelly came ready to play...the arrows point guard with the step back jumper....this game was tied at eight after one quarter.... kelly drives looses it but gabe pirtle grabs the ball and banks it in....that caps a 7-0 sullivan run, arrows up 15-13.... bloomington south answers with a 9-ohh run.....trevor taylor thre of his 16...panthers were up 23-17 at the half... braden flanagan the sweet no look pass to jackson hills.....arrows down 31-28 late in the third..
Rocco roshel played well off the bench for sullivan.
He hit a couple big three's...this one ties the game at 33 in the fourth... randy kelly led sullivan with 19....his three off the friendly bounce gives the arrows their first lead of the second half at 38-36.... with the game tied...bloomington south's jalen peck hits the rainbow three to give the panthers a 41-38 advantage.... under a minute to go....sullivan down five....kelly another big three...arrows trailing 43-41..... same score....arrows get the all back...kelly calmly steps to the line with 37 seconds left...he hits a pair to tie the game at 43...... 10 seconds to go now.....bloomin gton south gives the ball to trevor taylor...he drives, passes...gets it back and then calls ballgame... taylor is money on the contested three at the buzzer to win it for bloomington south.... no doubt that's one of the bigger shots in classic tourney history... bloomington south wins a thriller 46-43...... the win gave panthers legendary coach jr holmes his 700th victory at bloomington south... taylor three years ago as a freshman help guide edgewood to the classic title...tuesday he hit the game-winner... the senior says he enjoys the bright lights of the classic!
