Shots will go to Fire, EMS, and police responders.
Vaccine available to Lane County fire and police responders
There was some good news today.
150 first responders from all over lane county have gotten their first shot of coronavirus vaccine.
Kezi 9 news reporter emma jerome joins us live from the eugene springfield fire headquarters to tell us why these vaccinations should help everyone breathe easier the fire and ems folk i talked to today said it is not lost on them how personal a 9-1-1 call is.
When they respond to help you, they are entering your home -- and it is their job to protect you and keep you safe.
That's what don harkens with coburg fire district said his motivation was behind getting the vaccine which is available for any forst responder and emergency personnel in lane county, while also being one hundred percent voluntary 1000 doses of the vaccine landed at the eugene springfield fire headquarters yesterday and almost immediately they began being administered.
As far as the actual injection?
Harkens says it's nothing "tetanus shot was much worse than this, or even the shingles vaccine is much worse.
This was shot there really was.
But now that there are supposed to be symptoms of redness, soreness, fatigue and headache that's supposed to come afterwards.
But all those people that i've spoken to who've received the vaccine today have those experiences.
So this was really very surprising that it was just like a flu shot."
