As farmer protest crossed the 40-day mark, talks with government failed yet again.
Farmer leaders and union ministers held the 7th round of talks on January 4.
Farmers continued to push for repeal, and not amendment, of the three farm laws.
As deadlock persisted, the two sides decided to meet again on January 8.
Farmers have been protesting in and around Delhi against the three recent agri-reform laws.
Farmers allege the laws empower corporates and will lead to scrapping of MSP.
However, the government says there's no threat to MSP regime, and laws liberate farmers.
“We wanted farmer unions to discuss three laws clause-wise.
We could not reach any solution as farmer unions remained adamant on the repeal of the laws,” said Tomar.
