Alabama's Vaccines
A slow down!
Right now -- health officials say the coronavirus vaccine is being rolled out slower than it should be!
With more than 15 million doses distriubuted -- just more than 4 million have actually gone into arms!
This -- as alabama drops below the national average.
Waay 31's ashley carter joins us live outside of huntsville hospital this morning.-- with how the vaccine roll-out here in alabama.
Ashley?
Thats right pat and marie.
Here at huntsville hosptial -- they are still in phase 1-a of the state's vaccination plan.
Other states have moved on to their next phase of vaccination!
Right now alabama has only given out 19 percent of their total vaccine supply.
That's about 40-thousand doses out of the more than 200- thousand doses the state was given!
That is more than 10 percent below the national average.
Health officials say round 30 percent of the nations vaccine supply has been given out -- and they say thats not where we are supposed to be.
This as the country begins to see at least one covid death every thirty three seconds --- and hospitals begin to see a holiday surge in patients the madison county health officer says she does not know when the state will move on to phase 1-b of the vaccination plan...but says we will likely continue to be in phase 1-a for most if not all of january.
