To logansport historic preservation commission has several people voicing their opposition.
People claim (ren - nuh-wants) rennewanz is unqualified.
One person shared their concerns with news 18's marvin bills who also spoke with the mayor of logansport and mr. rennewanz.
Intro: it's a hot topic amongst members of logansport landmarks, a volunteer organization that advocates for historic preservation in logansport.
I am near the historic district of logansport.
Perry rennewanz was appointed to the historic preservation commission by mayor chris martin late last year.
It was that appointment that caused members of logansport landmark to start talking.
Communications director for logansport landmarks paul willham said after news broke that rennewanz was being appointed he quickly voiced his opposition.
He claims that rennewanz who is a contractor in the city has a history of poorly managing his business.
Willham says people on the historic preservation commission bring a certain expertise to the commission that helps, he feels that's not rennewanz.
"perry doesn't bring that kind of expertise to the table, if anything he might represent the type of thing the board commission is trying to stop which are people basically trying to flip houses and do it as cheaply as they can with a bad result for the community."
Willham says he has created a petition that already has 60 signatures asking the city to remove rennewanz from the commission, now mayor chris martin released a statement to news 18 and it reads, "this is being blown way out of proportion and people need to be more respectful of others, especially in the times we're in."
Mr. perry renewanz also responded he released this statement saying: "it is my pleasure to put my knowledge to use to better the community i grew up and live in today.
This is tam involved in other boards, to help make a difference."
Outro: willham says he doesn't a specific number of signatures he's looking to garner however he hopes mayor chris martin will be open to fully understanding the story and understanding the opposition of mr. rennewanz's appointment.
