This week Gov.

Gavin Newsom put out a call for pharmacy techs, dentists, and the national guard to help administer vaccinations as doses become available.

At 5-thirty - action news now reporter krisitan lopez shows us how this could work here at home.

Kristian: dr. christopher lim here at yellowstone family dentistry says he thinks it's a great idea and something he would consider helping with.

Dr. christopher lim/dentist: we're fully capable of doing it.

We've been tossing around the idea.

If we could get as many health care professionals out there to help get people vaccinated to promote some herd immunity and save lives thats as important as it gets.

An emergency waiver approved on monday will allow thousands of dentists across the state to help vaccinate.

Something some our local dentists are looking into.

Dr. christopher lim/dentist: dental professionals are very qualified, medically trained and do administer shots all day long so it doesnt shock me or surprise me so i think the more people we can get to administer the vaccine the better.

Dentists may be giving them before they're able to get them.

Dentists are in the third tier of the first phase of distribution.

Dr. christoper lim says he was able to receive his vaccine early- and he's ready to step up if necessary... dr. christopher lim/dentist: anything we can do to promote health, we are on the frontlines, if we can do things to help make peoples lives easier and better why not.

Kristian: and dentists who are interested in helping will have to complete an online training with the cdc.
