With multiple states in India battling a bird flu outbreak amid the Covid-19 pandemic, Union minister Sanjeev Balyan answered questions on whether humans are at risk?
Balyan, who is Minister of State in the Animal Husbandry, Dairying and Fisheries Ministry, said that while the virus can be transmitted to humans, no such cases had been reported in India so far.
He advised proper cooking among precautions to prevent infection.
At least five states in India have confirmed cases, with the Union government suspecting that the disease may have spread to more.
The affected states include Rajasthan, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Kerala and Madhya Pradesh.
