Congressman Doug LaMalfa to join reps in objecting Electoral College certification

Congressman Doug LaMalfa said he will join other republican members in objecting to the certification of Electoral College votes on Jan.

6.

Tomorrow.

At least 13 senators have said they will oppose -- and well over 100 members of the house are expected to as well.

And we learned today - that includes congressman doug lamalfa.

In a statement to action news now today, lamalfa said, in part...?millions of americans and tens of thousands of my constituents have serious questions and concerns about the november election.

There has been an endless dripping of reports of mishandled ballots, numbers not adding up and outright violations of the u.s. constitution clear... direction for setting election rules.

These questions must be answered and no amount of media spin or declarations of nothing to see here, move alon?

.... will change the concerns that many of us share.

Lamalfa goes on to blame the courts for not doing their job.

He does not mention former attorney general william barr's declaration that there is no evidence of widespread fraud.

So, what happens tomorrow?

At one p.m.

Eastern time, 10 am our time, congress will meet in a joint session to open the sealed electoral certificates from each state and count the votes.

If their are objections, and we know there will be from both houses, each house will separate to debate for two hours, and reconvene to vote.

The objections can only be sustained by a simple majority vote by both the senate and house.

As president of the senate, vice president mike pence is to officially certify the electoral college results.

Pence paid a visit to the white house today... as president trump increases the pressure on him to reject electors from several states& a power that vice presidents don't possess.

President donald trump/last night "i hope mike pence comes through for us.

// of course, if he doesn't come through, i won't like him quite as much."

The democrat- controlled house is expected to vote down the challenges and several senate republicans have also spoken out strongly against the objections.

Wednesday's expected congressional clash comes exactly two weeks before inauguration day.
