Matt Hancock has called on President Trump to "condemn" the protesters who stormed the US Capitol on Wednesday.
"These are sad and distressing scenes", said the Health Secretary, "Nobody should use violence to try and frustrate the outcome of a free and fair election." Four people died on Wednesday during the protests which occurred while Congress was in the process of certifying the Electoral College vote from November's presidential election.
US lawmakers have now certified Joe Biden's election victory, forcing President Trump to commit to an "orderly transition".
