The covid-19 vaccine.

We just showed you the latest vaccine numbers... and douglas county has the lowest numbers in our viewing area.

Kezi 9 news reporter evita garza asked the tough questions today --- including... what's the hold up?

Trt: 1:37 phoner:?i think douglas county has good plan, and wee already started on it?

00:03 take lower that's public health officer bob dannenhoffer talking about the vaccine rollout.

But according to the oregon health authority, only 867 people in douglas county have received their first dose since the vaccine arrived three weeks ago.

That about 77 shots per 100 thousand people.

Dannenhoffer blames the lack of good locations for people to get the vaccine.?right now, we think there at least 10 different places where group 1a can get their vaccines.

Wee really working on that?

He says douglas public health network in downtown roseburg will likely be one of those places.

They recently received 200 doses that will be given to community health partners& like aviva health.

Mercy medical center and the roseburg v-a are still working through their first shipments.

Hospital staff said theye only used 643 doses out of the 975 they received.

As for the v-a, executive assistant shawn tyson said they can release how many workers theye vaccinated so far.

1:04 shawn tyson, executive assistant, roseburg va:?the majority of our staff, and volunteers and inpatients have been excited and relieved to receive the vaccine?

1:10 evita:?once they get through the priority list, dannenhoffer says douglas county plan is to have pharmacies and doctor offices distribute the vaccine to those who want it??rather than having one big, long line like they have in florida, which i think is ridiculous?

Dannenhoffer says the goal is to finish group 1-a by the end of the month or early february.
