Union minister Prahalad Patel spoke to Hindustan Times' Deeksha Bhardwaj about the Central government's plans to address the development imbalance between Leh and Kargil.
Patel, who holds the Culture and Tourism portfolios, said discrimination against some areas happened when Jammu and Kashmir was a state.
He spoke on the government's plan to make Kargil an adventure sports destination, and naming a new Indian Institute of Skiing and Mountaineering after Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose.
He also revealed talks on mapping a new Amarnath Yatra route via Kargil, instead of Srinagar.
