Tension erupted at the site of farmers’ protest in Singhu and Tikri after locals tried to break tents erected by the farmers demanding that they vacate the area.
A scuffle also broke out and police had to take the locals away who were also chanting ‘goli maaro’ slogans.
A policeman was stabbed during the entire ruckus at the spot.
Two people, including a police official, were injured in the violence.
Farmers have been protesting for more than two months now at the borders surrounding the national capital.
There have been calls to vacate the border after the tractor rally called by farmers on Republic Day was marred by violence and vandalism.
