In a recognition of the technical advancements in addressable TV, AT&T and WarnerMedia along with others in the sector have been recognized by the National Academy Of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS), and will be honored with a Technology & Engineering EMMY® Award in October.
The honor was bestowed on AT&T "By developing technology that enabled the company to divide its single, nationwide advertising market into 85 local markets across its video footprint, DIRECTV was able to increase subscriber scale, while enabling key markets to transact using DMA ratings instead of cable ratings, and drive more local advertising business," the company noted in a statement.
For an overview of the significance of the citation and an update on progress at AT&T's Warner Media unit in developing and implementing addressable solutions, Beet.TV interviewed Matt Van Houten, SVP Product & Biz Dev at AT&T/WarnerMedia.
Others honored, in the award category titled Development and Pioneering Deployment of Synchronized Local DMA Advertising Capability for DBS / MVPD’s, were Ampersand, Comcast, Charter, Cox, DISH and Invidi.
