Sasikala returned to Tamil Nadu after spending 4 years in prison in a disproportionate assets case.
She was released from prison on January 27, but spent some days in a Bengaluru hospital for Covid-19 treatment.
She was greeted by a sea of supporters, turning the 6-hour journey from Bengaluru to Chennai into almost a day-long affair.
Sasikala, a close aide of late Tamil Nadu CM Jayalalithaa, was ousted from the AIADMK in 2017.
Her attempt to become the CM was foiled by conviction in the assets case.
Her return comes just months ahead of Assembly elections in Tamil Nadu.
