A new-born elephant calf was rescued by forest officials in the Kalatamak Tungur Reserve Forest of India on February 10.

The calf's mother left the baby elephant alone with a herd of six elephants.

The calf could not walk because he could not go with the elephant and fell ill.

After learning of the situation, the Bishoi Forest Department monitored the calf’s movements and health, and the baby elephant was rescued and brought to the Bishoi Range Office.

After communication, a STR rescue team along with a medical team from Baripada also reached the Bishoi Range office, where the calf is currently being treated.
