Pedestrians and drivers took their lives in their hands on Thursday (February 11) to cross a blocked section of a major highway during landslides.
Falling rocks and earth hit the Rishikesh-Badrinath Highway near Srinagar in Uttarakhand.
When teams with diggers came to clear the road, further landslides were triggered which completely blocked the highway.
Impatient drivers and pedestrians began to cross the treacherous section of road even as rocks tumbled down the mountainside, in some cases missing them by only a few feet.
The blockage was eventually cleared after several hours.
No injuries were reported, according to local media.
