FM Nirmala Sitharaman hit back at Congress’ Rahul Gandhi over his ‘Hum do, Hamare do’ jibe.
She said that the ‘real cronies’ of the govt are the common people of the country.
The finance minister used the jibe multiple times in her reply to Union Budget discussion in Lok Sabha.
“Where are cronies?
They are hiding in shadow of the party which has been rejected.
The shadows were invited to develop a port with no open tenders or global tenders.
This is because there is no ‘Damad’ (son-in-law) in Kerala, the ‘Damad’ is here,” she said.
FM Sitharaman added, “Who are our cronies?
Our cronies are the common 'janata' (people) of this country.
For those who are accusing us of dealing with cronies - SVANidhi doesn't go to cronies.
Damad (son-in-law) gets land in states which are governed by some parties.” Saturday marked the end of the first part of the Budget session of Parliament.
The Finance Minister had presented the Union Budget 2021-22 in Parliament on February 1.
