Actor Mithun Chakraborty ended all speculation over his political plunge on Sunday.
Chakraborty reached Kolkata's Brigade Parade ground where PM Modi will hold a mega rally.
Ahead of the rally which is scheduled to start at 2 pm, Chakraborty joined BJP.
On Saturday, BJP's Kailash Vijayvargiya had announced that Mithun will attend the PM's rally.
In 2014, Chakraborty was sent to Rajya Sabha by TMC after it stormed to power in 2011.
Chakraborty's political sting was short-lived as he resigned in 2016 citing health reasons.
Meanwhile, BJP has claimed that 10 lakh people will attend PM Modi's election rally.
PM's rally comes as Bengal heads for an high-voltage assembly election starting March 27.
The eight-phase polling will conclude on April 29, results on May 2.
Bengal is likely to see a triangular contest with TMC, Cong-Left alliance and BJP in fray.
