As a mark of showing solidarity with the people of Myanmar protesting for their democratic rights who are under violent suppression by the military, a candlelight vigil was organized by citizens of Dimapur on Sunday evening.
The vigil was held on March 7 at Supermarket Dimapur from 7 pm onwards organized by like-minded people who have concern for the people of Myanmar, who had lost their democratic rights.
"When we talk about Myanmar, they do not possess as much as right that we have here in India.
Today we can remind ourselves that we have the freedom to protest peacefully.
But not so in Myanmar," says Sedivilie Angami, President of Dimapur Naga Student Union.
About 500 people turned up to show solidarity during the hastily organized program.Ever since the military took control on February 01, there have been violent clashes in Myanmar.
