A video has emerged of the touching moment the Queen offered Meghan Markle a blanket to share three years ago - which was cited in her interview with Oprah. In Oprah's tell-all interview with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Meghan recalled a touching moment the Queen had offered to share a blanket with her on a car journey. The Queen and Meghan had been attending one of their first royal engagements together in Chester on 14 June 2018 where they officially opened the Mersey Gateway Bridge and Chester's Storyhouse Theatre.Meghan told Oprah in the interview, which aired in the UK on Monday: "The Queen has always been wonderful to me (…) I really love being in her company."At one of our first engagements together (...) we were in the car going between engagements, and she has a blanket that sits across her knees for warmth, and it was chilly."She was like, 'Meghan, come on' and put it over my knees as well."It made me think of my grandmother, she's always been warm and inviting, and really welcoming."Following the ground-breaking interview, a video has been uncovered of that very touching moment Meghan described - thanks to mum-of-two Eileen Owens, who had been filming the royals through the upstairs window of her husband's city centre pub in Chester. The video shows the Queen and Meghan getting into the back of a car together to travel between engagements - and through the window, just before the car pulls away, the Queen can be seen handing her granddaughter-in-law a blanket to share. The Queen appeared to be caring and friendly towards Meghan as they carried out their duties.Similarly, Meghan seemed very much at ease in the Queen's company, and appeared to be smiling as she stepped into the car.Eileen, who runs an online auction house website, told of the moment that her and her husband Leslie Owens, 62, had been watching the royals from his pub, The Coach House Inn, and had unwittingly captured the touching moment. While the couple, from Handbridge, Chester, had watched with delight at the time, Eileen said they "had no idea of the significance of that moment" until the interview with Oprah was aired this week. She said: "At the time it just seemed like a sweet gesture - it seemed like they were quite close."The two seemed to be chatting and getting on quite well and the Queen really seemed to like Meghan."It wasn't just the Queen that liked her either, everyone watching seemed to adore Meghan - people watching were screaming her name."The couple had been watching the Oprah interview as it aired on Monday night, and when they realised Meghan was describing a moment they had witnessed first-hand, she ran to check if she still had the footage. She said: "I couldn't believe it when I heard Meghan telling that story, because I knew exactly what she was referring to."I just thought 'wow' when I found the video on my phone."At the time we were watching, it didn't seem too important - but it obviously was for her."For that moment to spring to Meghan's mind, and for her to recall it on TV three years later shows it meant a lot to her."
