We talk to a local pharmacist who says they are now giving plenty of Covid vaccines.
It's been one year since the world health organization classified the coronavirus as a pandemic.
News 12's brian armstrong joins us now live with an inside look at a pharmacy, putting a major focus on the battle against covid-19.
When the vaccine was developed and became available we were told it's the light at the end of the tunnel.
For the past year, it's been a dark tunnel but it appears as if the light is getting brighter.
Starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel.
Cdc is starting to ease some of the guidelines so we're getting there.
We just got to keep vaccinating people and keep ongoing.
In the past two days between off-site clinics and store visits access family pharmacy has been able to administer over 600 doses.
We're here to serve our community, in order to do that, we need the vaccines.
We finally got them.
This has been a tough challenge for the pharmacy due to limited vaccine supply but, as more has come in, the pharmacy has been able to ramp up the number of vaccinations.
We've got over 20 vaccinators on staff daily so it's nothing for us to vaccinate over 150 people a day.
I mean the whole process took three minutes, tops.
One vaccine recipient appointment at another company was running over two hours behind so he was happy other options were available.
Dealing with circumstances that may or may not be normal.
We just had some people that have been unable to get vaccinated at the health department or other stores and we've been able to get them taken care of.
Vaccinations aren't the only thing being done, covid has impacted many parts of the medical field.
Whether it be giving vaccines or infusing and giving treatments or setting up covid positive patients on oxygen therapy at home, we're just trying to do everything we can to help our community.
And the antibody treatment has been another focus for care.
We can infuse them.
Which are two antibody therapies to treat covid.
The state called me and asked if we would be interested in storing this for other facilities to use and it turned into us opening our own infusion clinic.
In the fight against covid, the eventual goal for access family pharmacy is to have enough supply that an appointment isn't needed.
But for right now appointments are still needed and you can go online or call to make a vaccine appointment.
