Assemblywoman marianne buttenschon is one of many lawmakers calling for the governor to resign.

She says the hearings could bring a number of things to the table.

"these hearings could bring interviews, these hearings could be possibly not all public some could be public in terms of what information has come forward to deem if it's necessary to move to the step of impeachment."

Utica college professor daniel tagliarina says if their is an impeachment trial, the state process would be similiar to the one we saw with former president trump.

"just like president trump had his own attorneys, governor cuomo.

The council members presenting the impeachment charges would bring the charges and present the evidence."

But unlike the national impeachment process, if the assembly votes to impeach the governor, cuomo would no longer be our governor.
