Cree holds virtual hiring town hall

Residents got a chance to not only learn about what jobs would be available but to also find out more about Cree and what they do.

Brand new tonight -- the company held a virtual hiring town hall to give residents a chance to not only learn about those jobs but to find out more about cree and what they do.

Some of the products that will be manufactured at the new plant include semiconductors and power modules.

These devices can then be used for such things as charging stations for electric vehicles, communication infrastructure, aerospace, and defense.

At the end of the town hall participants were able to submit questions to the cree panel.

Questions like, what positions are available if you don't have a 4-year degree.

"sometimes semiconductor manufacturing is different than other manufacturing industries.

There are roles like the manufacturing technician.

That's a good way to get an idea of what it's like to work in a clean room and learn if you're capable to do the types of jobs we're going to do."

Currently cree has 77 job openings that need to be filled by august.

The company expects that number to grow as it expands.
