AN OUTBREAK OF A NEW VARIANT, OF COVID-19..

AT AN EASTERN KENTUCKY NURSING HOME.

Story at 11........an outbreak of a new variant, of covid-19..

At an eastern kentucky nursing home.

The name of the facility has 'not' been released.

Governor andy beshear says..

85 percent of residents and 48 percent of health care workers at the place..

Have been vaccinated... but it appears an unvaccinated person introduced the virus into the facility.

According to the state...41 people there have tested postive.

27 are residents and 14..

Are health care workers.

Five residents are in the hospital..

And... of the five..

Four were not vaccinted.

One person was vaccinated.

According to the state..

The new variant, is not from the united kingdom, south africa or brazil.

The state says ..

It's still researching where it came from according to governor beshear..

Vaccinations appear to have reduced the risk of serious infection.

There's a spike in coronavirus cases at a couple of state prisons..

Including the kentucky state penitentiary in eddyville... with at least 555 active confirmed cases.

According the department of corrections... vaccinations will begin soon..

First with the little sandy correctional complex...on march 18... for inmates who are 70 and older.

Meanwhile.... accross the state.... governor andy beshear announced...819 new cases of the coronavirus today.

The total is now..

417,412.

The positivity rate is... 3 point 8-7 percent.

According to governor behear..

24 more people have died.

The total number of covid-19 related deaths in the commonwealth..

Is now..5,029.

Ots
