Now... continuing our coronavirus covergage.... vaccinations around the state have been in underway for some time now.

This includes the mass vaccination site that took place at the indianapolis motor speedway.

News 10's tucker white spoke with one of the indiana guardsmen who helped put it together.

National guard members from all over indiana have been helping vaccinate hoosiers.

Earlier this month a mass vaccination site was set up at the indianapolis motor speedway.

Among those vaccinated was governor eric holcomb.

Today i spoke with the guardsmen who gave him the vaccine.

"i have had the honor to vaccinate the governor of indiana govenor eric holcomb."

Govenor holcomb recieved one of the 16,000 vaccines that were given at the indianapolis motor speedway between march 5th through the 8th.

This mass vaccination was a part of the ongoing efforts by the indiana national guard to help fight covid.

These efforts include administering vaccines at long term care facilities and helping the state health department in anyway they can.

Indianapolis was the most recent stop for the guardsmen, but they have been as far north as southbend, and as far south as sellersburg.

Its fitting that the guardsmen would cover the entire state, since they come from every corner of the state.

"its guardsmen from all over the state, its definitly a teamwork aspect.

Its funny you ask, because everybody is always like oh it is just one unit or two units but no.

Were from all over the state."

Many of the guardsmen who have been helping during this mobilization have been doing so since the beginning of the pandemic.

Some of those soldiers, like bryan lloyd plan to continue to help anyway they can.

"i think its just kind of until covid ends.

Nobody really has any idea.

I think that's a part of the reason why its such a big honor to be a part of these, is because its a continuous thing.

No body really knows when its gunna end and nobody knows whats going on" govenor holcomb govenor holcomb govenor govenor govenor on" whats going on" govenor holcomb received the johnson and johnson vaccine.
