BS Report: March 17th - College Basketball in Georgia

As the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets enter the NCAA tournament as the only team from Georgia, Bill Shanks ponders the status of college basketball in the peach state.

Here's bill shanks with today's b-s report.

It is mid-march and it's one of the best times of the year.

The braiser down in florida at spring training, and they're about two weeks away from starting their regular season.

The hawks have won six in a row.

They're up to the 500 mark and they're playing well.

And of course in athens, it's spring football, that's going on as the bulldogs prepare for their 20, 21 season, but there's something else going on that we kind of need to pay attention to this weekend.

And that is georgia tech playing in the ncaa tournament.

The yellow jackets won the acc basketball tournament last week.

And you might not have known about that because college basketball just loses some luster here in this state.

Occasionally of course, we know that mercer does well mergers women's teams doing well this year, the university of georgia women's teams doing pretty well this year as well, but men's basketball has just been kind of shaky in the state of georgia for a while.

Georgia is in year 300 tom crane, and they did not make the tournament.

They did not have a particularly good year.

They had a winning season, but not in the sec.

And george is still trying to get up to some respectability, but in year six of josh pastors era, as the head coach at the georgia tech yellow jackets, they have finally made it to the ncaa tournament, seemed like it's been decades.

And really it has been decades since georgia tech has had some kind of success like this, considering, uh, how much people think that georgia tech is a basketball school, but to have an eight game winning streak going into the ncaa tournament is something that they can hold on to and maybe get our attention.
