Action news now reporter kristian lopez spoke with parents in orland today and shows us how much this change means to them.
### kristian: right behind these doors, teachers and staff members getting everything ready to welcome students back on campus full-time in just a few weeks.
Jessica medina sanchez/parent: i'm really grateful they are going to be able to return to school full- time.
Jessica medina sanchez has three kids who attend mill street elementary.
She's eager for them to get back on track with their school work.
Jessica medina sanchez/parent: as much as we do work with our kids at home and as hard as these teachers have been working, there is a significant difference i've noticed in my children's performance and what they are able to obtain which such minimal amount of in-person.
Dwayne newman is the superintendent for orland unified.
He says their goal is to give their students a sense of normalcy while keeping them as safe as possible... we know kids learn better when they're in a classroom, when they have caring adults around them and the impacts of distance learning have not just been academic but wearing on them emotionally so it's important to get them back to some sort of normal routine.
He says classrooms will have to be rearranged and there will be some changes schedules and school programs - to allow for social distancing.
Jessica medina sanchez/parent: i believe the social intelligence they will gain by being able to interact with their peers will be very great for them.
Kristian: newman says they expect about 85 percent of their students to return to campus full time on april 12th.
This will be the week after spring break.
