10 for Tupelo holds community wide clean up event

Well, it was a pretty day outside, and even prettier after people hit the roads to pick up litter.
Wtva's taylor tucker got an inside look on the keep tupelo beautiful movement that inspired residents and even scouts to clean up their community.

If you were out driving today and you saw this sign that reads litter crew ahead, this vest, and this tool, then you might have seen a crew that's ready to make a difference... ready to keep tupelo beautiful.
((sot)) "we found a phone, a card, cardboards, bunch of diapers.."
Those are just some of the items troop 12 picked up off the streets.
But this wasnt their first time.
((sot)) "we do this several times throughout the year, we really enjoy getting out here."
Walker tate - troop 12 more than 600 people signed up to go outside and get garbage off the streets as part of the communty cleanup effort known as 10 for tupelo.
They picked up their supplies at city hall and then hit the streets..
((sot)) "we want people to know we are an all- american city, everything is beautiful here and the litter takes away from that.
We want an opportunity to clean it up and educate people from keeping litter out of their cars into our streets."
Jessie bandre - 10 for tupelo co-chair ((sot)) "we combat litter every day, we have work programs, keep tupelo beautiful, different things, but it takes a community effort to make sure that we keep tupelo beautiful."
Mayor jason shelton - tupelo as for troop 12, the boy scouts know they won't be able to hit every road by themselves.
However,... ((sot)) "we're just going to try to get as much as we can, and hopefully inspire other people to make other people want to come out and pick up more trash tag: from corner to corner, you will likely see trash bags like these filled with trash that the community collected off the streets in order to0 keep the streets clean.
