80-54... (sot, ryan hawkins: "felt like we played a pretty good game and then the last five minutes you know we kind of kind of knew and it was hard to stay focused hard to do what we needed to do defensively but you know at that point the game was kind of out of touch so overall really good feeling right now."(sot, ben mccollum: "i mean he puts a lot of work into it and he had some mismatches here you know he just had a lot of mismatches here and so we just went to him quite a bit on got on at the right time and that helped us quite a bit and you know because a lot of them were probably trying to stop our two guards and you know he was the beneficiary him and luke and wes were the beneficiary of a lot of that.") and for more reaction from the bearcats title win... kq2's chris roush brings us more from the site of the division ii national championship..
Out in evansville, indiana... <<on top of the mountain once again, as northwest missouri state wins their third national championship in the last four tournaments.
Now winning one tournament hard enough, winning two, even harder, winning your third and four tournaments.
Well, that's called a dynasty.
And that's exactly what we're seeing from the bearcats.right now, hawkins is, you know, he shouldn't be.
He's not a division two kid, you know, and that team is not a division two team, that team.
I think this is just my observation, but i think they can beat half the teams in division one.
And i think they're actually in the wrong tournament, they should have been in the division one tournament this year.
I think they're that good.
Obviously, i'm humbled by his praise, i've got a lot of respect for coach brown, got a lot of respect for their program.
You know, he's great for division two, because he's, he's, you know, shoot, they've lost, you know, what, four or five games over the last few years toend the record for northwest over the last three years, including two national titles 97, and three,it's crazy when you like, actually hear that, and you think about it, that's quite an impressive feat for our last three years.
But you know, every day you wake up and we go to the gym to get better, and it's having that same approach every single day that, you know, we're focusing on that process that's gotten us to this point, and we got to make sure we keep doing that.
And whenyou think about everything that's happened since covid-19, shut down the 2020 season.
It's truly remarkable the bearcats making this run in 2021.it was probably the most difficult one just in regards to handling success, the emotions of covid the emotions of last year, all those different things it made it really difficult.so ben mccollum and the bearcats national champions once again the third time in four years with the victory over west texas a&m, here in the ncaa division two national championship.
Reporting from evansville, indiana, chris roush college baseball, missouri western hosted northeastern state today for a double header, losing the first game by 5 and the second game by 3 the griffons fall to 5 and 14 on the season the bearcats baseball team was in wichita kansas today.with a double header against newman the bearcats split the games.
