Starkville Ward 3 alderman candidate Jeffrey Rupp is unopposed in the primary election and in the June general election.

One candidate here in starkville not only is unopposed next tuesday.

He's unopposed in the june general election, meaning he'll soon serve as one of the city's aldermen.

Jeffrey rupp won not one but two terms as mayor of columbus.

He left office in 2006 during that second term to work for mississippi state university.

Well, after time away from local politics, rupp will re-enter as an unopposed candidate for starkville's ward three alderman.

"each of those communities has their own personality and their own identity and their own set of strengths and challenges.

So, i'm approaching this a lot differently than i did in columbus."

Rupp will replace current alderman david little and plans to work on lowering taxes and fixing infrastructure in his ward.

He said being unopposed gave him the opportunity to see what folks in his ward truly need help with.

"i have several months now to get up to speed and get smart on the challenges that is starkville.

I want to meet with department heads and find out what i can do as an alderman to help them deliver effective, efficient services to the citizens of starkville."

Rupp said he's missed going door to door talking with voters because of the pandemic.

He hopes by may or early june he'll be able to get out and meet more of his future constituents.
