WTVA anchor Craig Ford spoke with a man whose home suffered damage early Wednesday morning in Hatley.
Also touched down in monroe county causing damage to homes and to trees.
W-t-v-a's craig ford is live in hatley near one of those homes that did not fare well in these storms. we are right across the street from the school in hatley.
And the daylight gives you a better look at what happened here overnight.
What's believed to be a tornado tore a roof off this home and made a mess here and elsewhere.
Scott carter showed us evidence in his front yard of the power of nature specifically what happened to his s-u-v.
"the 4runner was parked where the car is.
And it's now sitting right there.
We had two basketball goals, and they're somewhere way over yonder.
So, you know, it picked it up and set it sideways."
There's also the damage to his roof and to his carport that happened after he, his wife and their two sons hunkered down in the hallway and started praying.
"it hit, and it was like a bomb going off.
It literally, it lasted only a few seconds."
((nats)) a much bigger mess could be found to the east on weaver creek road.
Donnie and amy williams had to ride in their truck through their front yard to leave home because a downed power line blocked their driveway.
"it's just a loud roarin' and trees poppin'.
We tried to get in the hall closet, you know, and everything just happened so quick."
Those snapped trees made it impossible afterward to drive past their home.
But the work started there and elsewhere to clean things up and recovery from a stormy night.
And as for the carters, scott carter said he is grateful for the help afterward from firefighters and neighbors getting those blue tarps on the roof quickly.
Of course, everyone is grateful that no one died in what w-t-v-a chief meteorologist matt laubhan believes were two tornadoes that came through monroe county.
For now, we're live in hatley.
