Edward Jones expert Gabe Rockers sits down with KQ2's Jodie O'Brien to discuss the bond market.

Jodie: if you follow the financial news even casually, you may know bond yields have been rising before the year began.

What does this mean for you as an individual investor?

Joining us is gabe rocker from edward jones.

Hi, gabe.

So in a broad sense, the rise in bond yields could be considered positive news, is that right?

Well, it's definitely created some volatility in the market.

I think it's showing some movement.

Even though there hasn't been big movement.

In comparison to where we were, i think that's what maybe had the market rattled.

Especially the tech side of the market.

It definitely created some volatility in the market.

You don't want to put all your eggs in one basket when it comes to the interest rate.

Keep that in mind, is that right?

Absolutely.

That's 100% accurate all the time.

Ask mike about that.

So if you want to provide the most safety and the best, the approach be beis to diversify.

Get some long-term stuff.

You high want to own more short-term right now based upon inflationary interest rates.

In essence, there are individual socks.

Some will not perform quite as well.
