Indiana's statewide mask mandate lessened to a mask advisory on Tuesday.

However, several Indiana counties and cities are keeping their more strict mask requirements in place, including the City of West Lafayette.

West lafayette mayor john dennis says the city will continue to move in conjunction with purdue university.

As we've previously reported, purdue is also not lifting its mask mandate for the remainder of the spring semester.

Mayor dennis says that this summer will give the city leaders time to re-evaluate the mask mandate.

While he recognizes it can be hard for some people to accept, he hopes people will understand that this is the right thing to do for the city.
