Journalists recall release of CRPF jawan by naxals in Chhattisgarh.
The abducted CRPF jawan Rakeshwar Singh was released by naxals.
Manhas was brought to the CRPF camp in Bijapur after he was released.
“A press note was released saying that the government is preparing a team for mediation.
Bastar IGP was informed; a two-member team was formed.
Maoists asked us to come with the team formed by the government.
35-40 maoists were present, several adivasis were present there.
The soldier was released in our presence and handed over to us,” a journalist said.
Another said, We went to the place where the soldier was kept.
Soldier is healthy but he is mentally troubled.
He told me that he got lost during the ambush.
Maoists said that they were leaving him on humanitarian grounds.
They (maoists) said that the soldier be sent back home.
Bringing back the soldier was everyone’s responsibility.”
