And deli.
The 'tramp and trail club of utica' is celebrating the 100th year of their volunteer- organized hiking club.
Founded in 1921 by 23 uticans.... the tramp and trail club of utica is the oldest hiking club in new york state.
Today..... april 8th..... specifically holds a special significance as today marks 100 years from the clubs first meeting at the utica public library..... to plan their first-ever hike as a group.
With 250 members strong.... members are from a 75 mile radius of utica.
They have met at least weekly for 100 years.... to either hike.... snowshoe.... cross-country ski.... bike.... even canoe and kayak.
The group ventures to all areas of new york state and beyond.
So to mark the 100 years..... they are celebrating with a hike on saturday, april 24th, leaving roscoe conkling park at 10:30am.
They're looking to retrace the route of their first hike in 1921 to utica's cascade-glen area.
Participation is free and open to all adults and children.... if accompanied by an adult.
They also have two extended hiking trips planned during the year.
One is to pipestem, west virginia.... and the other to rocky mountain national park in colorado.
