Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar on Apr 10 said that the government had held 11 rounds of talk with the protesting farmer unions and ready for more talks over the agricultural laws.
"Many farmers unions, economists are supporting the laws but some farmers are protesting against the bills.
The government held 11 rounds of talk with protesting farmer unions, we are ready for more talks," the Minister said.
"We offered to discuss problematic areas and make changes in them.
Farmer unions didn't accept and didn't give reason.
Agitation continues either when govt isn't ready to talk or when union doesn't get favourable response.
Here unions decided to continue it anyway," he added.
Agriculture Minister has also urged union leaders to send back tell children and older people from protest sites in view of rising COVID cases.
