Vaccines Offered to Local College Students

Students from Utica and Hamilton College were offered transportation to, and were alerted to via email, the vaccine pod at MVCC in Utica.

Sure their students are getting their shots.

Newschannel 2's james corrigan tells us why getting younger people vaccinated is a priority for so many.

It's not uncommon to see students get off a bus and head to school.

But the only class in session today was vaccine 101 as local college students trekked to mvcc today to receive their johnson and johnson shots with help from their respectiveschooi got an email from hamilton college, hit the link and signed up."

Hamilton and utica college provided transportation for students to get to the site, and uc has given its students multiple options for their shots.

Because even as many local residents have gotten their shots, the case numbers have still plateaued.

And local officials say that many of the new cases are made up by younger people.

That means the that older more vulnerable people are getting vaccinated and protected.

We need our younger people now to follow suit."

Oneida county executive anthony picente says the mindset of some students have led to this uptick in younger infections.
