LOUISVILLE IS EXPANDING IT'S VACCINE EFFORTS TO CARDINALS STADIUM..

One-point five million.

### louisville is expanding it's vaccine efforts to cardinals stadium..

Our abc affiliate whas-11's rose mcbride shows us the set up.

### at this time tomorrow thousands more kentuckians will be vaccinated, thanks to this site run by uofl health.

-- "my guess is that we could probably be in the probably 60 to 70 percent of the city vaccinated by the end of may if we're lucky."

Cardinal stadium's vaccine site will be open from april 12 to may 28.

The goal is to vaccine 24,000 people a week, which will put louisville in a good position heading into the summer.

"we do see this as really that big final push kind of the sprint to the finish as far as some of the vaccination efforts in the city."

The kentucky national guard, americorps, med students and university hospital will all work together to make this vaccination effort happen.

With a site this large uofl health has put plans in place for any situation.

There is an overflow lot of prevent traffic around cardinal stadium, and they are prepared for rain or shine.

"all the cars will be able to drive through to protect from any rain from being out in the sun.

We have the ability to bring in some fans or heaters to keep the staff comfortable."

The site is open to people living in jefferson county, surrounding counties, or anywhere in kentucky.

Getting to this point in vaccinating the population has been something health care professionals have been working towards.

"this really feels like you are making a true impact in stopping this as opposed to just reacting to the virus which is what we've been doing for so long."

-- after this site closes, vaccinations will be moving to smaller sites like doctors' offices.
