Hundreds of Okolona residents get their second doses

Access Health made sure people living in rural and low income communities are fully vaccinated Thursday.

Okolona residents were overjoyed to get their last shots.

Thanks to access family health, hundreds are fully vaccinated today.

Wtva's alexis jones was in okolona where she spoke with one person who was overjoyed to get her last shot.

Okolona resident, willie gatherings said it felt good to walk away from the community center fully vaccinated.

Sot: "it's better to have it than to not have it."

Carolyn hill also got her second dose his said he decided to get vaccinated to keep her and her 91 year old mother safe.

Sot: "if she can take the shot, so can i" 140 people who got the moderna vaccine today.

Nurse practitioner, gamesha tumblin said access health is making sure people in rural communities have access to proper services.

Today, icc nursing students assisted in giving out the shots.

Tumblin said it means so much to see people get vaccinated who wouldn't have been able to otherwise.

Sot: "i'm actually a native of okolona so it gives me a lot of joy to be able to give to people that i've grown up around and people that i know of who need these services."
