This is a short review of my reactions to Nia Vardalos's memoir "Instant Mom," which discusses how she broke into Hollywood with the family classic "My Big Fat Greek Wedding", and went on to adopt her daughter Ilaria from the foster care system in 2008.
I have followed some of Nia Vardalos's posts on Instagram over the years, and always thought she was witty and insightful.
Although I enjoyed Nia Vardalos's posts movies and some of her posts on Instagram, reading this book prompted me to learn a bit more about her.
Usually, I do not enjoy audiobooks, but I ended up enjoying listening to the audible version of "Instant Mom" after reading the book as I was cleaning my house, and it made me laugh out loud as her movies often do.
I am not personally interested in adopting a child myself but would recommend Vardalos's book as an introduction for people who are considering adoption within the US foster system.
