The 7.0 magnitude earthquake that occurred on 30 October 2020 in the eastern Aegean Sea, between the island of Samos (Greece) and the southern coast of Turkey, generated a tsunami, mainly observed in the epicentral area.
The tsunami waves reached the northwestern coast of Samos Island within ten minutes of the main earthquake, and in less than 20 minutes the Turkish coast.
In the north of the island of Samos, following the earthquake, a sea retreat was observed.
