On Monday, benchmark stock indices began the week on a sour note, with the Sensex falling about 483 points as a result of selling in IT, capital goods, and banking stocks amid global equity losses.
The BSE Sensex fell 482.61 points, or 0.81 percent, to 58,964.57.
It fell 552.78 points, or 0.92 percent, to 58,894.40 during the day.
The Nifty 50 index fell 109.40 points, or 0.62 percent, to 17,674.95 as 29 of the 50 stocks fell.
