Boris Johnson committed “repeated” and “serious” contempts of Parliament by deliberately misleading MPs with his denials over Covid pandemic gatherings at 10 Downing Street, a privileges committee report has found.
The committee, chaired by Harriet Harman, also found Johnson committed further contempts by undermining the democratic process of the Commons and being complicit in the campaign of abuse and attempted intimidation of the committee.
The former prime minister has issued a statement, calling the report “rubbish”, and adding it was a "dreadful day for MPs and for democracy.” Report by Jonesia.
