Reps.
Matt Gaetz (R-FL), Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA), and other House Republicans heard from witnesses about investigations and prosecutions related to the January 6, 2021 attack on the U.S. Capitol.
Witnesses included persons convicted of participating in the attack, as well as their family members.
This event occurred on the same day former President Trump was arraigned for charges of mishandling classified documents and obstruction of justice.
Rep.
Taylor Greene referenced this case, saying Mr. Trump and January 6 defendants were victims of a “weaponized government.” In May of 2023, she announced plans to introduce articles of impeachment against U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia Matthew Graves for his prosecution of participants in the attack.
