Rescuers working to find the Titan submersible and its five passengers continued to race against the clock on Wednesday, June 21, with less than 24 hours of oxygen left in the deep-sea vessel, according to reports.
File images from OceanGate, the owners of the Titan submersible, show the craft during construction and testing.
The craft was built in 2018.
The Titanic wreckage is located 3,800 meters (12,500 ft) beneath the surface of the Atlantic Ocean, approximately 400 nautical miles off the coast of Newfoundland, Canada, according to official information.
Early on Wednesday, the United States Coast Guard (USCG) confirmed it had detected “underwater noises”, possibly coming from Titan.
The USCG said at 1 pm on Tuesday that the vessel had around 40 hours of “breathable air” left, according to reports.
