Islanders in Orkney react to the prospect of distancing themselves from the UK, after the Islands Council passed a motion to explore new ways to govern, including potentially rekindling previous “Nordic connections”.
Orkney was under Norwegian and Danish control until 1472.
While one islander was optimistic about exploring the potential “benefits” outside of the UK, another labelled the move “drastic”.
