Russia claims to have foiled a Ukrainian bid to infiltrate near Antonovsky Island.
TASS reported that Russian troops destroyed two boats and killed nine Ukrainian soldiers.
The incident reportedly happened on the left bank of the Dnieper River.
This comes as Ukraine's much-awaited counteroffensive against Russia is underway.
Ukraine claims to have made small advances in parts of Southern Ukraine and Bakhmut.
