Painting Mandalas is a good way to enter a flow state for me.
It provides a certain amount of stability with which I can inject spontaneity.
No two are ever the same because they are influenced by the present moment and the flux of environmental conditions and the shifting mental state of the creator.
I find the process relaxing, expressive, and reflective, and I enjoy it.
I often make mandalas, and other doodles, in my down time.
Sometimes, as is the case with this one, these preliminary doodles also become paintings later.
This one is 12x12" acrylic and ink on unstretched canvas.
