The foreign secretary and his Chinese counterpart Han Zheng meet for bilateral talks in Beijing, as James Cleverly becomes the first senior UK government official to visit China in five years in an effort to ease tensions.
As the pair met, Cleverly said it was important for the two countries to regularly speak face-to-face to "avoid misunderstanding and address challenges and differences of opinion".
