Evacuating Pilots Capture Rare St. Elmo’s Fire Electrical Phenomenon as Hurricane Idalia Approaches

Tropical storm Idalia strengthened as it approached Florida growing to a Category 4 hurricane.

It has since weakened slightly, moving back down to a category 3, but as it was approaching the Gulf Coast by sea, by air it was giving pilots a rare, albeit disconcerting view.
